2020 Chandler Macleod Stakes Race Details
Race 5 at Moonee Valley on Saturday 5 September 2020.
The Chandler Macleod Stakes is a 1200 metre handicap race run by the Moonee Valley Racing Club at Moonee Valley. It is held in early September at the start of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

Chandler Macleod Stakes 2020 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Following the early scratching of Heptagon, eight runners will start in the $140,000 Chandler Macleod Stakes and five of them are resuming from a spell. The early favourite is popular Western Australian gelding Showmanship who has won his last five starts in a row and has a huge drop in weight here. Second favourite is Age Of Chivalry who resumed for a close 2nd in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes on 15 August and placed in two Group 1 races last Spring.Third favourite is Felicia, the only mare in the race, who is back from a 10 week let-up after a 3.75 length win over 1200m at Caulfield.
Mandela Effect is a talented gelding from Tasmania with 12 wins and 6 places from 23 starts. He is resuming after a spell of 27 weeks and goes well fresh. Achernar Star ran 2nd three times in a row before a 12 week let-up. Chicago Cub faded to finish fifth last start at Flemington when first up and has not had much success at Moonee Valley. Rainbow Thief is first-up after 21 weeks but goes best over further, while Gold Fields is another resuming who might need the run.
