Caulfield Sprint – 2022

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Wide open affair. Dragonstone has claims as well bringing in some strong form lines and will take some catching if left alone up front. Asfoora backers last start where left covering their eyes as it encountered more traffic than the M6 at peak hour. Generation brings class to the table the Maher & Eustace stable and can go close here while Ashford Street is as honest as they come and should appreciate a large drop in weight. The tempo should be strong.

1. Beau Rossa (12)

Trialled well and likes the heavy. Not hopeless at odds in this.

2. Generation (9)

Flies on this track, has the class and by all means has the right form. If Generation gets a good run in transit it will be very hard to hold out and the stable are excellent at winning. Zahra takes the steer and that is a solid push.

3. Malkovich (1)

Back to this track suits and the first up run behind Eduardo is nice form for this. Due for another win and there is good speed in this race but it has caims if it can find its best. Some query given the amount of speed on paper and heat it may be copping in the lead.

4. Oxley Road (3)

Won this race last year. Has been hit and miss this prep but the best version of Oxley Road can go close. Drawn to give this an almighty shake and looks a big chance at knockout odds.

5. Free Of Debt (7)

Can’t have.

6. Express Pass (5)

Express Pass has ability but can be a little tricky to catch. Finds a suitable assignment and handles the heavy okay. Some query over Oliver’s form and I prefer others but it must be kept safe.

7. Kallos (8)

Won well last start with a big weight and looks well in here. Kah in the saddle is a good push, however is some query on the heavy. Respect any market moves.

8. Ashford Street (4)

Racing super and looks very well in here with an enormous drop in weight. Should plonk on the speed and prove hard to run down. If they leave it alone up front it can by all means pinch this race.

9. Dragonstone (2)

Hard to beat and the big danger to the on top selection Asfoora. Clark has options from the draw and Dragonstone goes well on the heavy. It boasts 2 seconds last prep to Andermatt and that is the right form for this race. Hard to beat.

10. Sartorial Splendor (10)

Going well lately without winning. Has to be some query on the heavy and its winning strike rate lately hasn’t been great. Should be around the mark but hard to take the win bet with confidence.

11. Asfoora (6)

Luckless would be an understatement for Asfoora’s last run which was at The Valley. Go off the prior win and it has always looked stakes class. I’d like to see prominent tactics from the get go. It certainly has an engine and will take some running down against this company. Hard to beat and on top.

12. Rock Artist (11)

Unbeaten on heavy and flies second up. Eligible for a lot easier but the stable have elected to go here. Doesn’t look hopeless at large odds.
