Bendigo Guineas – 2022

Track: Good  Weather: Fine

A really open race where many angles can be taken. Sharp Response was denied last weekend over protest after making an enormous looping run around the field. It if finds that effort again it will be going mighty close here. Not much can stop the Maher-Eustace stable of late, or ever, and they are represented by Cardigan Queen who was a good thing beaten last start behind the talented Fortunate Kiss. Gundec has come back super and will land on the speed while Mars Mission has plenty of boom around it and can measure up here.

1. Chartres (1)

Wouldn’t surprise me at all and the return was certainly a pass mark. Hard to beat and deserves to be in the mix.

2. Hesket (2)

Coming off an average run but does have the talent. Each-way hope and drawn to get a lovely run.

3. Gundec (4)

Love the map for Gundec and it should be in this for a long way. Outstanding return, it looks hard to beat.

4. Mars Mission (12)

Didn’t have much luck last start but it was an improved effort. The stable demands respect but the map looks tricky for Mars Mission. Can win if it finds the favouites back.

5. Sharp Response (8)

Very unlucky to lose on protest and I am still quite stunned it did. Enormous looping run around the field but the query is whether it can do that again on the quick backup. Seriously good racehorse, just has to produce a run like its last to be hard to beat. In the mix.

6. Prowling (10)

Struggles to put a race away and this is no easier but does have solid enough form for this. Can be in the mix but not in my numbers.

7. Aktolgali (6)

A market push would be ideal before considering.

8. From Pantherland (5)

The $11 place odds look big. It was a certainty beaten the other night when having to switch paths multiple times. I think it is worth a speck for the win and place, enormous odds and will get a nice run. Rock hard fir for this and shouldn’t be $51.

9. Airclash (9)

Not out of this at odds but couldn’t have in my numbers and maps awkwardly. Some hope.

10. Cardigan Queen (11)

No one missed its run a few weeks back and the form has plenty to it. Better drawn out wide which it gets but Coffey will need to try and find some cover or slot Cardigan Queen in. This is a handy race and if it is caught wide I think there will be others that have its measure. Certainly deserves to be favourite and hard to beat here.

11. Asymmetrical (7)

Should be landing outside the leader and giving a sight. Knows how to win and is a winner over the trip so commands respect against these. Just needs a bit of luck early from the draw.

12. Celtic Glory (3)

Can’t have.
