Chairman’s Quality – 2022

Track: Heavy Weather: Showers.

Twenty runners have accepted for the $300,000 Group 2 Chairman’s Quality and there have been no early scratchings. The Bjorn Baker stable, Chris Waller stable, Joe Pride stable and the Matthew Smith stable are saddling up two runners each in the event whilst the other stables only have one entry each.

Chalk Stream has opened the early favourite after a tough run in the N E Manion Cup as he ended up sitting wide throughout for the majority of the race. He fought the entire way up the straight in testing conditions to still finish third. Zeyrek is next in the betting and is coming out of the same race. He was a touch disappointing over the 2400m on the heavy going, which he faces once again.

Stockman is on the third line of betting and is on the quick backup from Newcastle on Monday.

On a quick backup. Ran well behind Duais in the Tancred Stakes. Gets the conditions to suit and can go close.

2. Great House (2)

He has had a messy preparation due to the weather. Will love the step up in distance but might want it a touch dryer.

3. Surprise Baby (3)

Can’t have on current form.

4. She’s Ideel (20)

Was disappointing at Newcastle. On a quick backup. Will love the extra distance. Place chance.

5. Knight’s Order (12)

Ran some silly sectionals last start before fading slightly into fifth, 3.5 lengths off the leader. Looks to get a soft lead. Can run a big race again.

6. Zeyrek (4)

Got tired last start over 2400m. Drawn to get a similar run here. If he can harness the energy, he will come into calculations.

7. Nerve Not Verve (8)

Was impressive behind Monegal last start. Beat the rest of the field by 4.5 lengths when running second. Extra distance suits. Place chance.

Can’t Have.

9. Avion Fury (5)

Outclassed.

10. Future Score (17)

Coming back from a placing in the Adelaide Cup. Distance and conditions are no issue. Will need luck.

11. Luncies (19)

Too far back last start. Rider said he didn’t handle the conditions. Prefer others.

12. Chalk Stream (1)

Massive last start. Drawn to get a dream run. Going to be hard to beat.

13. Alakahan (15)

Can’t have on the quick backup.

14. Kaapfever (13)

Can run a race on his day, don’t think today is that day.

15. Le Baol (16)

Back to Randwick and up to 2600m is ideal. Can run a big race.

Big run being wide throughout last start. Can run a place.
