Adrian Knox Stakes 2022 Preview

Track: Heavy Weather: Showers.

Nineteen runners have accepted for the $200,000 Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes with three of those emergencies and there have been no early scratchings. The Chris Waller stable, James Cummings stable, and Bjorn Baker stable are saddling up two runners in the event whilst the other stables only have one entry each.

I’m Devine opens up the favourite in a wide-open race after a troublesome second placing behind Clyde in much weaker company. She was ordered to trial due to her behaviour and has done so accordingly. Roots is next in the betting after a poor sixth in the Phar Lap Stakes where the rider stated that she didn’t handle the track conditions.

Honey Creeper rounds out the top three in the betting and she is coming off an okay third placing in the Tasmanian Oaks.

Adrian Knox Stakes Runner by Runner

1. Roots (11)

One of the better runners in the race but the rider last start stated she didn’t handle the going, which she faces here. Can improve.

2. Honeycreeper (15)

Hit the line well in the Tasmanian Oaks. Blinkers go on the first time. If she can return to her previous form, she goes close.

3. Achira (5)

Coming off a nice win in a Midway. This looks harder.

4. Secret Glamour (3)

Gets the blinkers back on. This is much harder than previous runs but she is drawn to be a chance.

5. Charity Spirit (6)

Ran a nice fifth in the Kembla Grange Classic at Goulburn. Handles the heavy, 2000m and drawn well.

6. In De Summertime (12)

Going for four in a row. Big step up in grade. Take on trust.

7. I’m Devine (2)

Ran well last start despite throwing the race away. Trialed well since and gets a ton of gear changes. If she puts it together, she goes close.

8. Summerbeel (4)

Needs to improve.

9. Chenin (8)

Was an impressive winner at Hawkesbury in maiden grade. This is much tougher but she is drawn well, should handle 2000m and is bred to handle the wet.

10. Empress El (13)

Prefer others.

11. Taizai (14)

Outclassed.

12. Mamounia (9)

Ran solidly first-up. Can handle 2000m but has to do it second-up. Chance.

13. Prophet’s Pride (10)

Outclassed.

14. Mikasa (7)

Should handle the 2000m. Up in class. Take on trust.

15. Ninyo (19)

Outclassed.

16. Mauricently (18)

Prefer others.

17e. Great Mystery (16)

Prefer others.

18e. Miss Madison (17)
