2021 The Shorts Race Details
Race 8 at Randwick on Saturday 18 September 2021.
The Shorts is an 1100 metre set weights plus penalties race run by the Australian Turf Club at Randwick. It is held in September as part of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival.

The Shorts 2021 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Following the early scratching of Wild Ruler, eight runners remain for the $500,000 The Shorts. Three of them had their last start in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes over 1000m on 4 September while the rest all came through different races. There are seven geldings and one mare, and no trainers have multiple runners.
The early favourite is Nature Strip who has won 17 of his 31 starts and resumed with a brilliant 2.5 length win in the Concorde Stakes. Second favourite is Masked Crusader who resumed for a win in The Heath 1100 on 28 August. Third favourite is Rothfire who has seven wins from 9 starts and resumes here after winning two lead-up trials.
Eduardo was runner-up in this race last year and resumes from an 18 week spell. Lost And Running also resumes after 18 weeks and has six wins and a place from his seven starts. Gytrash has a great record over this distance and won a recent trial. Adelong has won three from four at this track and distance, while Handle The Truth finished 4th in the Concorde Stakes after not getting the clearest of runs.
