The Queensland Derby is a Group 1 race held at Eagle Farm Racecourse and is run over 2400 metres. It is run under set weight conditions and is for horses aged three-years-old. The total prize money is $1,000,000 this year.

Queensland Derby 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
All eyes on Kovalica who has the right form for this race and should get a beautiful run in transit from barrier 5. It looks very hard to beat with J-Mac doing the steering. Aberfeldie Boy looms as a danger and just needs a pinch of luck from the draw to be going close. Promises Kept should get every chance from barrier 1 and goes in the mix while Stroke Of Luck is a good roughie and should run well in this.

Mammoth run in the highest rating race out of last Saturday. Many experts are questioning the quick back up but Chris Waller knows what he is doing. Good draw, J-Mac, best horse in this race. Shocked if it doesn’t win.
2. The Vowels (14)
Having a good prep but this looks too tough.
3. Aberfeldie Boy (8)
The danger to Kovalica and the only one in that. Brings in good form and gets the right map. Looks huge odds and the quinella pick.
4. Promises Kept (1)
Having a great prep and have this in for third pick. Nice map and draw, looks a solid place chance.
5. Andalus (19)
Can’t have.
6. Tapildoodledo (7)
Prefer others.

Can’t have.
8. Special Swey (17)
NZ raider who will need to be very specail from out there. Place chance.
9. Stroke Of Luck (4)
