Lord Mayor’s Cup 2023 Race Details
Race 4 at Eagle Farm Racecourse on Saturday the 27th of May 2023.
The Lord Mayor’s Cup is a Group 3 race held at Eagle Farm Racecourse and is run over 1800 metres. It is for horses aged three-years-old and upwards and is run under set weights and penalties conditions. The total prize money is $200,000 this year.

Lord Mayor’s Cup 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Open race. Luncies comes up favourite and is going along well. Hard to beat. New Mandate is capable of bobbing up at odds and J-Mac helps its case. Without A Fight will enjoy further but is good enough to win this fresh while Young Werther is becoming one of the hardest horses in Australia to catch on the punt. Tempo looks decent.

Class runner but probably wants some give in the ground.

Surprise last start winner. Harder here but isn’t out of this.

Can win this fresh. Likely to want and need further but this race isn’t out of reach. Keep safe.
4. New Mandate (12)
Can bob up at odds and finds a winnable race and J-Mac does the steering. Well placed in this field.
5. Bigboyroy (2)
Won this race last year. Maps well and has the right running pattern. Good run last start but he is due for another win.
6. Wild Chap (3)
Prefer others.
7. Skyman (14)
Hoped for a bit more last start. Needs to lift off that effort.
8. Berdibek (1)
Going along okay but might struggle with barrier 1 and the map with its running pattern. Prefer others.
9. Bartholomeu Dias (17)
Strips fitter and looms as a place chance in this.
10. Bellatrix Black (5)
Prefer others.
11. Kolding (6)
Ran 3rd in this race last year. His best would win this but its D-DAY with a capital D on both of the D’s.
12. Young Werther (9)
Backing Young Werther is riskier than having a glass bottle at a pool. Hasn’t won for a long time and is just simply too hard to catch. Capable runner but only for the brave with the 1 from 19 record.
13. Luncies (7)
Goes on top. Reliable, gets the right draw and brings in the right form. Deserving favourite.
14. Seat Of Power (18)
Can’t have.
15. Regal Lion (8)
Prefer others.
16. Irish Playboy (10)
Tricky draw and leaning to others.
17. Alcyone (4)
Sneaky hope at good odds. Gets a good draw and nice map. Tim Clark is an ideal booking.
