Race 1 at Flemington Racecourse on Thursday the 9th November 2023.
The Ottawa Stakes is a Group 3 race held at Flemington racecourse over 1000m. It is for two-year-old fillies and is run under set weights conditions. The total prizemoney this year is $200,000.

Ottawa Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Nine fillies are set to line up for the Ottawa Stakes. Two had their last start in the Restricted Listed Inglis Banner over 1000m at Moonee Valley on 28th October, two in a 2YO Maiden Plated over 900m at Murray Bridge on 7th October and one in the Listed Debutant Stakes over 1000m at Caulfield on 18th October. Four of them have not raced before. Two runners are sired by Extreme Choice and two by Alabama Express.
The early favourite is Eneeza who is a first starter for Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman and has drawn the inside barrier. Second favourite is Harpalee who is also unraced. Third favourite is Hayasugi who debuted for 2nd in the Inglis Banner. Arabian Summer was runner-up in the Debutant. All other runners are currently $9 or longer.

3. Arabian Summer (9)
Was runner-up in the Listed Debutant Stakes over 1000m at Caulfield on 18th October after leading most of the way. Should take improvement from that run.
4. Karavas (6)
Won a 2YO Maiden Plate over 900m at Murray Bridge on 7th October. One of 2 runners sired by Alabama Express (the other is Harpalee).
5. Yes Yes Tess (3)
Ran 0.2 length 2nd to Karavas at Murray Bridge.
6. Dream Smart (4)
First starter. Ran 2nd in a Beaudesert trial.
7. Eneeza (1)
A first starter for Peter Moody and Kathryn Coleman and has drawn the inside barrier. Watch the market.
8. Harpalee (5)
First starter for the Hayes boys.
9. Tessa’s Choice (8)
Another firt starter. Has trialled at Cranbourne.
