Race 5 at Flemington Racecourse on Thursday the 9th November 2023.
The Century Stakes is a Listed race held at Flemington racecourse over 1000m. It is for three-year-olds and upwards and is run under set weights plus penalties conditions. The total prizemoney this year is $175,000.

Century Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Following the early scratching of Fasuto, 12 runners remain for the 2023 Century Stakes. There are 10 geldings and 2 stallions with two 4YOs, two 5YOs, five 6YOs, two 7YOs and an 8YO. Two runners had their last start in the Group 3 Rising Fast Stakes over 1200m at Flemington on 4th November and two in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint over 1000m at Caulfield on 21st October, while the rest came via different races. Trainers James Cummings and Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock both have 2 runners.
The early favourite is Spacewalk who won the Rising Fast after a close 2nd in the Caulfield Sprint. Second favourite is Cannonball who has won both recent trials. Third favourite is Najem Suhail who was 3rd in the Rising Fast and has won 5 of his 14 starts. Generation finished 3rd in the Caulfield Sprint, while Athelric has got off to a poor start this campaign but should improve with fitness. All other runners are currently $16 or longer.
