Galilee Series Final 2023 Race Details
Race 4 at Sandown Racecourse on Saturday the 15th April 2023.
The Galilee Series Final is a Listed race normally held at Caulfield but is being run at Sandown this year. It is over 2400 metres. It is run under set weights and penalties conditions and is for horses aged three-years-old. The total prize money is $200,000 this year.

Galilee Series Final 2023 Preview
Track: Soft Weather: Showers
The early scratching of Howlin’ Rain leaves nine three year olds to contest the Listed Galilee Series Final. The key lead up race is the St Leger Trial with seven of the nine runners having had their last start in it. The Mick Kent trained Northern Barrage was the best placed in second and has come up a short priced favourite here.

1. Northern Barrage
Has come up favourite after a very good closing second in the St Leger Trial a fortnight ago. Is getting deep into the first prep but a repeat of last run will see him hard to beat in this.
2. Midnight Glow
Has one win from twelve starts and was fifth in the St Leger Trial last start. Drawn well. In the mix.
3. Nightsun
Had a chequered passage in the St Leger Trial but kept coming to run third. Can settle closer in the run here and should have some improvement to come. Chance.
4. Highland Hill
Has had no luck at both runs this prep. Could be a big improver here.
5. Kentucky Nick
Looked the winner in the St Leger Trial last start before weakening to finish sixth. Fitter for that and could end up suited by a slow speed here.
6. Roaring Engine
Was building nicely through the line in the St Leger Trial. Maps to get every chance again here.
7. Bengal Boy
Is still a maiden but I loved the run last start behind Moya Lass who has group form around her. He looks ideally suited stepping out to 2400m fourth up and can run a race at a price.
8. Knentii
Improved effort at Benalla last start but that form doesn’t look strong enough for this.
9. Howlin’ Rain – SCRATCHED
10. Fortelling
Was tenth in the St Leger Trial. Made a little bit of late ground but looks a rough place chance at best here.
