Expressway Stakes 2024 Race Details
Race 5 at Randwick Racecourse on Saturday the 17th of February 2024.
The Expressway Stakes is a Group 2 race held at Randwick Racecourse and is run over 1200 metres. It is for horses aged three-years-old and older and is run under set weights plus penalties conditions. The total prize money is $300,000 this year.

Expressway Stakes 2024 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Small but competitive field. Buenos Noches resumes and won in fashion for us first up last prep. Should prove hard to beat here. Golden Mile may find this too short but has plenty of class. Coal Crusher will be up on the speed and hard to beat while King Of Sparta has the turn of foot to be winning this. Tricky race with many hopes.
Expressway Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. King Of Sparta (2)
Class runner that has the turn of foot to win. Brilliant win last start and J-Mac steers and he is 3/4 aboard. Hard to beat in this company and looks a shade over the odds.
2. Coal Crusher (5)
Suited fresh and has won here in the past. Can land up on the speed and prove hard to beat. Keep an eye on the market for its chances fresh.
3. Golden Mile (1)
Ran 2nd in this race last year. Classy runner but keen to be with it over further. One to follow later on in the prep but will be running on hard.
4. Buenos Noches (6)
Won in style for us first up last prep and can do the same here. Nash steers from barrier 6 and loves this track and trip. Deserving favourite.
5. Strait Acer (3)
Prefer others.
6. Malkovich (4)
Can’t have.
7. West Of Dalby (7)
This looks too tough.
