The Doomben Mile is a Listed race held at Doomben Racecourse and is run over 1600 metres. It is run under quality handicap conditions. The total prize money is $125,000.

Doomben Mile 2022 Preview
Track: Soft Weather: Fine
Solid field engaged without much tempo expected. Puntura has been a model of consistency, likes this trip and maps for a nice run in transit. Tokoriki Lad is also flying this prep and should give a great sight. Jetty can be tricky to catch but strikes a suitable race and the same goes for Tumbler Ridge who’s best efforts can give this a shake.
Doomben Mile 2022 Runner by Runner
1. Tokoriki Lad (2)
Has been racing very well this prep. Thornton maps for a nice run in transit and it has a solid record over the trip and 4th up. Good chance in an even field.
2. Tumbler Ridge (1)
The Tumbler is a little hard to catch but does love racing at this track, it is just a matter of putting back to back wins on the board which it has struggled to do in the past. Its best is better than these but it needs to consistently find it. Massive chance but also hard to trust.
3. Puntura (4)
Has really hit its straps and yet to miss the quinella from its past 4 starts. The map is suitable, Du Plessis is 3/7 aboard and this is a winnable race. Hard to beat.
4. Sir Barnabus (6)
Needs to show more.
5. Sayl (8)
Has a booming turn of foot and loves racing here. Capable of winning this, the negative is the drop in trip as Sayl does take a while to wind up. Top 4 chance in this field.
6. Couldn’t Refuse (7)
Going well after a shaky start to the prep. Byrne knows the horse well and he just needs luck slotting in early to be in the finish against these.
7. Jetty (5)
Bit toug to catch but suited on soft ground and maps for the right run in transit. Can win, respect any market moves.
8. Welsh Legend (3)
Don’t mind the NSW form of Welsh Legend. Maps well from the draw and finds a limited field. Best chance at odds.
9. Invinciano (9)
Has been off the boil lately but has plenty of class when right. Leads up the field, respect any late moves.
