Poseidon Stakes – 2022

Track: Soft  Weather: Fine

Cracking race and all eyes on Doull on resumption. It was an outstanding debut and it’ll take beating on resuming. Alpha One is a quality galloper that will plonk on the speed and be hard to run down. Spacewalk must be respected with strong NSW form while Three Rings creates interest off a quality debut. A few going forward in this so the speed should be good.

1. Brereton (10)

Classy runner that didn’t quite come on last prep but does have a good win on this track and Nolen is a positive booking. Can take this out at odds, I’d be respecting any late market moves.

2. El Padrino (11)

Has nice form but the barrier doesn’t make things easy. A soft track holds no fears, prefer others but can run a place.

3. Cannonball (14)

Hasn’t quite returned as well this prep but still has been going okay enough to be a top 4 contender in this. Allen is a suitable booking, should be on the speed and giving a sight.

4. Alpha One (13)

I’m a big fan of Alpha One and it has had an amazing prep. If it has another run in it, it can take this out. Almost lobbed the win last start when being nabbed late. Should be on the speed and giving backers a great sight.

5. Stupendo (4)

Keep an eye on the market.

6. Doull (3)

Excellent debut running very good time. Maps for a dream run here, Zahra aboard and stays at the track and trip. Fitness is the only query, other than that is should take a power of beating in this.

7. Lincoln Square (12)

Prefer others.

8. Spacewalk (8)

Brings in the strong NSW form and that is likeable in this field. Spacewalks only career win did come 3rd up however its strike rate is a bit of a concern and does tend to do a few things wrong in its races. Can absolutely take this out if it puts it all together.

9. Renosu (1)

Strong win last start but does see a sharp rise in grade. Leaning to others.

10. Zou Sensation (6)

Running very well and gets an in form Craig Williams. Some query over the form but should run well in this, top 4 chance.

11. Kusu (2)

Good win last start and maps for a nice run. Prefer others on form but should give a good sight.

12. Buenos Noches (7)

No luck last run. This race is harder but respect any market moves.

13. Three Rings (5)

Strong win last start and good form has come out of the race. Kah is a solid booking and the map is ideal. Top 4 contender.

14. Shipstern (9)

Won very well fresh and Kah is in the saddle. Decent leap in grade here however I was impressed with the win visually to the eye and this race is within reach.

15. Great Barrier Reef (15)

Prefer others.
