Track: Heavy Weather: Wet

A strong edition with the market being lead by Uncommon James who was outstanding upon resuming but has to be some query with the wide draw and wet weather. That opens things up for Rubiquitous who handles a wet track and is racing well. Putontheredlight is knocking on the door and brings in some very good form. The tempo should be solid.

1. Kallos (2)

Suited over this distance and brings in the strong NSW form. Some query on the wet deck but that is also the question with the favourite as well. Respect if the stable elects to run Kallos in regards to the track condition.

2. Alpine Edge (4) – scratched

3. Rubiquitous (1)

Should enjoy a cosy run and a wet deck. Looks over the odds at $9 and has an exceptional career strike rate. Bold chance in this.

4. Uncommon James (10)

Outstanding return getting the job done for us as best of the day. A wet track and wide draw now make things a lot trickier but Uncommon James has plenty of upside and ability to overcome those negatives. The even money on offer is certainly short enough but it is the clear one to beat in this.

5. Cecil Street Lad (7)

Keep an eye on the market. Been going okay without threatening but respecting the placement here.

6. Why We Drink (6)

Should enjoy the heavy track. This is quite a rise in depth but 4 wins from 12 career starts and it has shown enough to date to be a player for a top 4 position in this.

7. Miss Hipstar (8)

Consistent but due for another win. The wet track holds no fears and maps to get the right run in transit. Danger to the favourite and a strong top 3 chance.

8. Rubinocchi (11) – scratched

9. Sonnet Star (3)

Not hopeless at odds. Tends to mix its form but has a lethal turn of foot on its day so respect any market moves.

10. Putontheredlight (5)

Racing very well in strong company of late and this is well within reach. Byrne maps to get the gun run in transit from barrier 5 and overall there isn’t a stack of depth to this race. Main danger to the favourite.

11. Oriental Princess (9)

Can’t have.
