City Tattersalls Club Cup – 2022

Track: Soft  Weather: Shower or two.

Eleven runners have accepted for the $160,000 Listed Tattersalls Club Cup and there have been no early scratchings. The Chris Waller stable has three runners entered for the event, the Ciaron Maher/David Eustace has two entries whilst the rest of the trainers have just one entry each.

Five runners in this race have also have accepted for the Wyong Gold Cup the day prior in Lord Ardmore, Grove Ferry, Toomuchtobear, Chalk Stream and She’s A Maneater.

Lord Ardmore is the $3.80 early favourite. He has had a decent preparation thus far and he ran a credible third last start in the Premier’s Cup.

Grove Ferry is on the next line of betting at $5.00. He was bold in the Premier’s Cup and looked like the winner late but was run down in the closing stages to finish fourth, 1.3 lengths off them.

Through Irish Eyes, Cadre Du Noir and Toomuchtobear are all on the third line of betting at $6.50. Through Irish Eyes has placed second in his last three starts and placed in the top three in his last six. This includes a nice second in the Group 2 Brisbane Cup. Cadre Du Noir won a benchmark 78 last start over the same distance and is looking to make the next step. Toomuchtobear was a 2-length sixth in the Premier’s Cup and will need to improve.

1. Arapaho (8)

Won the Premier’s Cup nicely but cops a 3kg penalty for the win. Has history against him here and would need to produce a better figure to win this.

2. Lord Ardmore (4)

Entered for Wyong on Friday. Looked to peak a touch late over the 2000m so maybe they head to Wyong as I think 2400m might be just out of his range. If they race here, he is a good place chance.

3. Realm of Flowers (1)

Hasn’t performed well in over 12 months but this is the easiest he has faced since then. I can’t have her on recent form though.

4. Attorney (5)

Can’t have here.

5. Through Irish Eyes (2)

Has been the bridesmaid in his last six starts but he is a genuine stayer. Blinkers come off and is drawn well. I think he is a chance to give this a shake.

6. Raging Bull (9)

Won well first up in much weaker company, but defied a pattern in the process. Won’t mind the extra distance, but can he go back to back?

7. Cadre Du Noir (6)

Won well in weaker grade last time out and has since trialled well. This looks tougher, so it’s just a watch on this end.

8. Grove Ferry (11)

Entered for Wyong on Friday. Looked the winner last start before fading a touch and 2400m does look a touch too far for him. Be surprised if they come here considering the draw and distance.

9. Toomuchtobear (10)

Entered for Wyong on Friday. Another who looks as though 2400m might be too far and didn’t do a lot over 2000m last start. Take on trust.

10. Chalk Stream (7)

Entered for Wyong on Friday. He did very little first up and on that, he is hard to have but he will love the extra distance. Did something similar first up last preparation before running well second up, so I am weary. Place chance.

11. She’s A Maneater (3)

Entered for Wyong on Friday. Can’t have.
