There are 11 runners for the 2024 XXX Brisbane Cup, and two of them have won it before. They are all geldings, with one 4YO, five 5YOs, one 6YO, one 7YO, one 8YO one 9YO and one 10YO. Seven of them had their last start in the Group 3 BRC Premiers Cup over 2400m at Eagle Farm on 1st June (won by Hezashocka), while the rest came via different races. Early favourite is Mostly Cloudy who finished 2nd to The Map in the Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes over 2800m at Flemington on 18th May. Second favourite is Amade who won the Listed Sandown Cup over 3200m on 2nd June. Third favourite is Alegron who was runner-up in the Premiers Cup at Eagle Farm last start. Selino won this race last year and had a bad run when 12th in the Premiers Cup, while Goldman led into the straight but tired and ran 3rd in that race. All other runners are currently over $26.

1. Knights Order (10)

Won this race in 2021. Finished 9th in the Group 3 BRC Premiers Cup over 2400m at Eagle Farm on 1st June (won by Hezashocka). Has won twice at this distance but prefer others.

2. Amade (7)

Won the Listed Sandown Cup over 3200m on 2nd June. He’s won 4 times at this distance and despite his bad habit of missing the start he should fight out the finish.

3. Selino (2)

Won this race in 2023. Had a bad run when 12th in the Premiers Cup where he was slowly away and held up. Place chance.

4. Goldman (11)

Led into the straight but tired and ran 3rd in the Premiers Cup. Not sure he’ll get the 3200m even though he’s bred for it.

5. Alegron (9)

Was runner-up in the Premiers Cup at Eagle Farm last start. Genuine chance.

6. Captain Envious (5)

Has worked home well at the end of his last couple and was 4th in the Premiers Cup. Could surprise.

7. Mostly Cloudy (4)

Finished 2nd to The Map in the Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes over 2800m at Flemington on 18th May. One of the main hopes.

8. Warning (3)

Runner-up in this race last year. Will have to improve on his first 2 starts this preparation.

9. Tapildoodledo (1)

This looks too hard.

10. Casual Connection (8)

Fought on for a narrow win over 2400m at Randwick last start..Not the worst.

11. Tappy’s Lad (6)

Prefer others.
