Our Eagle Farm Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

Race 4 is the Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes for 2YOs, race 6 is the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes for 3YOs over 2200m, race 7 is the Listed Bernborough Plate over 1600m and race 8 is the Listed Falvelon Quality handicap over 1200m.

The Harrovian (Eagle Farm Race 7 No. 4)
This seven-year-old Fastnet Rock gelding trained by Toby Edmonds has 16 wins from 29 starts and has won his last 10 races. He won by a narrow margin over 1640m on a soft track at Doomben on 31 October, then took over at the 100m to win the Listed Tatts Recognition Stakes by 1.25 lengths over 1350m at Doomben on 28 November. He has the inside barrier, goes well on soft ground and can win this.

Good Chat (Eagle Farm Race 5 No. 6):
This three-year-old All Too Hard gelding has three wins and a place from six starts, and two wins were at this distance. He was held up then bumped at the 200m but was able to take over and draw away for a length win over 1200m at Ipswich on 25 November, then was tightened, hampered and bumped before finishing 4.6 lengths 5th over 1400m at Eagle Farm on 12 December. He is capable of placing here and looks a good each-way bet.

Best Lay

Viridine  (Eagle Farm Race 8 No. 1):
This six-year-old gelding trained by James Cummings is the early favourite in the Falvelon Quality Handicap over 1200m, and is one of three runners for the stable including last year’s winner Isaurian. At the end of last campaign he was a narrow winner in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield on 15 August, then resumed after 15 weeks for 0.2, 0.8 lengths 3rd in the Listed Starlight Stakes over 1100m at Rosehill on 28 November. The race has several chances, he is drawn wide and he offers no value at the current price.

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Friday 17th May 2024

Key Comments The rail is out 9 metres the entire way. The best bet comes up in the last race of the day and is progressive enough to go right on with things. Best Bet Hypeman (Cranbourne Race 8 No. 6) Won nicely breaking maiden and looks progressive enough to go on with things here. Can bounce to the front from barrier 1 and looks a suitable race for Ethan Brown to take out. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker

Horse Racing Tips: NSW Friday 17th May 2024

Key Comments The feature race is the Scone Cup (race 8). The rail is in the true position. The best bet looks a sure thing. Best Bet La Pleine Lune (Scone Race 5 No. 3) Absolutely romped in on debut. Concede it was in the right part of the track when the rail as hot however the race rated well, it had plenty more to give and the runner up has walked in since. Looks the good thing of all good things.
