Eye Liner Stakes – 2022

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Big sense of timing about Vinco in this race, represented by the Gollan stable with a trainer who has a strong record at the race. Holyfield is going well and deserves a win while Roman Aureus bounced back into form last start and Charleise should be giving a sight from the good draw. Emerald Kingdom found the stradbroke too hot but this is a decent drop in grade and it has solid claims.

1. Emerald Kingdom (14)

Found the Stradbroke too hot but this is a much more suitable race. Will need some luck in running on this track but if the gaps arrive it can run over the top of this lot.

2. Desert Lord (5)

Has been mixing form lately but the draw and a good surface are both ticks. Has to be kept safe for a leading trainer and has top 4 claims here.

3. Holyfield (16)

Barrier 16 won’t easy for Holyfield so it will need some luck getting across. Racing well but the map is sticky, can win with luck.

4. Last Chance (12)

Going along extremely well and went close to making it a hat trick last start. No favours with the draw here but has been in a rich vein of form and must be respected yet again.

5. Vinco (7)

The one to beat. Loves this track and has a sense of timing. Gollan has a strong record in the race and Vinco can be steaming home at a real generous price.

6. Charleise (6)

Finds a race that isn’t much harder than last start and the map looks ideal. Should be landing into a beautiful spot and brings in the right form to give this race a red hot shake.

7. Gospodin (8)

Was going along well before a luckless run last start. The booking of Brock Ryan is eye catching and looks major top 4 player.

8. She’s The Gift (11)

Suited by this tight track and won well last start. Can lead them up and certainly has the right profile to be winning this race. Best chance at odds.

9. Roman Aureus (3)

Roman is thereabouts more often than not but also can be very hard to catch. I have my doubts on him making it two in a row but the draw and map does look ideal. Always has a winning chance, just a little tricky to trust.

10. Red Chase (10)

Would prefer in something easier.

11. At Witz End (17)

Races okay fresh but needs a tonne of luck from barrier 17. Keep an eye on the market.

12. Hilo (2)

Not terrible at odds and I really liked the run 2 starts back. $81.00 does look a drastic price given the drop in grade. Can win.

13. Sir Warwick (18)

Can land on the speed and give a kick. Honest competitor and has claims against this field despite the awkward draw.

14. Barney’s Law (9)

Brings strong form into this race but also does struggle to put a win on the board recently. Solid chance to run a drum.

15. Palladas (13)

Palladas has never been one of mine and I have saved plenty of money over the years with that theory. Has talent and has speed but finds its self into awkward positions just about every single race. As you can say the past 20 times it has run, can win but can I trust it to win? No. Good enough for these but has been the case time and time again.

16. Bargannon (15)

Can’t have.

17. Our Birdsong (4)

Mixes form and needs to go to a new level in this. Prefer others.

18. Maybe The Best (1)

Comes into contention in this field and maps for the gun run from barrier 1. Good last start and can go on with things here. Solid chance for the top 4.
