Gai Waterhouse Classic – 2022

Track: Good Weather: Fine

An extremely open market for this years race with Juan Diva and Tahitian Dancer both leading affairs. Its fair to say both are due for a win and are also knocking on the door. Juan Diva maps for the gun run while Tahitian Dancer comes out of the right races and should be in the finish. Majestic Shot didn’t have much luck last start and should figure in the finish, Lady Of Luxury has a booming turn of foot and can run over them while Tycoon Evie has a fantastic second up record and looks well placed in a field of this calibre.

1. Archer’s Paradox (18)

Prefer others, especially from the draw.

2. Juan Diva (3)

Maps for the gun run, the concern with Juan Diva is the overall winning strike rate but does have plenty of talent and can be hitting the line hard provided the gaps appear at the right times.

3. Kisukano (12)

Has to lift on form. Has class but hard to have on recent efforts and may drift back in the run on this tight track. She’s one of my all time favourites but hasn’t been finding the line lately.

4. Majestic Shot (7)

No luck at all last start for majestic Shot. I have seen the tactics a few times of leading work for it so I hope they are employed here. If so Majestic Shot will take plenty of catching around the tight track and looks hard to beat.

5. Tahitian Dancer (10)

Tricky draw but comes out of the right races and should be in the finish. Gollan has been in excellent form and this is a suitable race for Tahitian Dancer.

6. Will Titto (13)

Prefer others.

7. Eloquently (17)

Has to lift on form and has a very tricky draw. Happy to avoid but worth keeping an eye on the market.

8. Tycoon Evie (5)

Tycoon Evie is a consistent operator, has plenty of ability and maps for a beautiful run in this race. She is excellent second up and is a great chance at odds.

9. Centrefire (1)

Mixes form so this race has to be some query. Can go close with luck.

10. Starla (19)  – SCRATCHED

11. Pull Anchor (6)

Has a very tricky running pattern to catch but capable of winning when things fall into place. Hard to catch but not dismissing.

12. Dash For Dreams (16)

Fantastic record here so off that basis does warrant respect in this field despite the wide draw.

13. Dragon Miss (8)

Okay win last start but this is harder. Not hopeless at odds but prefer others.

14. Lady Of Luxury (15)

Lady Of Luxury is capable of coming from hopeless positions and winning. She has to be some query here on the tight track and with barrier 15 but if the tempo is genuine and Ryan can weave a path at the right time she can win.

15. Chezblack (11)

Prefer others.

16. Maybe The Best (2)

Racing well and maps for the gun run. Nice prospect at odds in a tougher race.

17. Joy To All (20)

Knows how to win and can certainly measure up to this bunch. Has to gain a start but deserves respect if she does.

18. Glitter Strip (14)

Hard to catch from a punting perspective and needs luck from barrier 14. Good enough to win, just requires luck from the draw. Strong place prospects.

19. Brazen Gem (21)

Can’t have.

20. Love Sensation (4)

Brings the right form, has the right draw and leading trainer. Ticks plenty of boxes, can measure up to this field and go close.

21. Cassy’s Sister (9)

Prefer others.

10. Starla (19) – scratched
