Tibbie Stakes – 2022

Track: Soft  Weather: Partly Cloudy.

Fifteen runners have accepted for the $200,000 Group 3 Tibbie Stakes and there have been no early scratchings. The Kris Lees stable and the Waterhouse/Bott stable have two runners entered for the event each, whilst the rest of the trainers have just one entry each.

Icebath has opened as the early favourite at $3.00. She really savaged the line in torrential conditions at Randwick in the Tramway Stakes, finishing under two lengths behind Zaaki. This is a nice step back in grade, though she is also entered for Randwick on Saturday.

Katalin is on the second line of betting at $3.20. She was very good first up at Rosehill before a solid placing behind Meg in the Mona Lisa Stakes at Wyong. She has also been entered for Caulfield on Saturday, so there is a chance she may not run here.

Le Villi rounds out the top three in betting at $7.50. She hit the line well last preparation at Eagle Farm when fifth in The Roses before finishing a solid second behind Gypsy Goddess and Barb Raider in the Queensland Oaks. She hasn’t raced at this distance since she was in New Zealand, but she did win that race.

1. Mirra Vision (6)

Returning after 125 days. Finished her preparation with a poor run in the Dark Jewel Classic. She is 3/5 first up, and has had the two trials in preparation for this. Definite chance, but prefer the place.

2. More Prophets (2)

Has run okay without producing anything great. Really hit the line when sixth in the Mona Lisa Stakes at Wyong last start and gets the blinkers off for the winners. Will need luck from the draw as she maps to the rear but if the speed goes on, she is a chance.

3. Icebath (3)

She really savaged the line in torrential conditions at Randwick in the Tramway Stakes, finishing under two lengths behind Zaaki. This is a nice step back in grade, though she is also entered for Randwick on Saturday. She is drawn ideally and should get every chance.

4. Wonderful Riri (7)

I can’t have her on her recent form.

5. Katalin (13)

She has promised so much and delivered so little in her recent starts, hitting the line in a benchmark 88 first up when 0.6 of a length third, followed by a 0.2 length second in the Mona Lisa Stakes behind Meg. She has drawn wide here and with an entry for Caulfield also, I am unsure where they will go. If she stays here, she will need luck but is a massive chance.

6. Le Villi (4)

She hit the line well last preparation at Eagle Farm when fifth in The Roses before finishing a solid second behind Gypsy Goddess and Barb Raider in the Queensland Oaks. She has had one trial in preparation for this and this is the easiest she has faced since coming to Australia. She should be hitting the line nicely.

7. Sur La Mer (12)

Her run in the Mona Lisa Stakes was decent when 1.7 lengths back in fifth, as it’s the hardest she has contested in her career. The draw here is tough but she should be hitting the line well.

8. Shihonka (14)

Was a bit plain first up at Randwick in a weaker grade. This is much harder and she has drawn poorly. Can’t have her here.

9. Hope In Your Heart (10)

She was brilliant in a weaker grade last start when winning by half a length. This is obviously much harder but she is in decent form and has the right jockey aboard.

10. Kedah (8)

Ran okay in weaker grade, but this is too tough for her.

11. Riduna (11)

Ran superbly in weaker grades before failing in the Mona Lisa Stakes. Can’t have her here.

12. Daralina Belle (15)

Looks outclassed here.

13. Air to Air (9)

Looks outclassed here.

14. Moon Over Alice (1)

Looks outclassed here.

15. Whispering Cate (5)

Looks outclassed here.
