2020 The Heath 1100 Stakes Race Details

Race 6 at Caulfield on Saturday 29 August 2020 is the Listed The Heath 1100 Stakes.

The Heath 1100 is an 1100 metre set weights plus penalties race for horses four-years-old and upwards run by the Melbourne Racing Club at Caulfield. It is held on Memsie Stakes day, and is the second leg of the MRC Everest series.

The Heath 1100 2020 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

A field of 15 runners are set to line up for this years $160,000 The Heath 1100 Stakes. In a wide open betting race Lyre is the early favourite for the Freedman stable. There are 3 horses on the second line of betting – all of them trained in different states. Diamond Effort a Victorian, Garner a South Australian and Superstorm a Western Australian. Humma Humma for Jamie Mott and John McCardle is the other horse in single figures.

Next in the betting we have the race fit Great Again and the resuming Banquo. Crystal Dreamer is resuming for the Ellerton and Zahra yard and Bold Star is the other visitor from South Australia. All of the remaining runners are $20-1 or longer.

2020 The Heath 1100 Runner by Runner

1. Crystal Dreamer

He ran third in the Oakleigh Plate first up last time in at this track and trip. The stable is flying and D. Lane is booked to ride.

2. Superstorm

One of the Grant & Alana Williams horses over from WA. In his two Victorian starts he has ran second in the Group 1 Australian Guineas and second in the All star Mile so clearly has the talent. William Pike booked to ride.

3. Great Again

This 8 year old gelding has been ultra consistent through the winter months. He meets a few classier types in this but will be there abouts again.

4. Runson

A go forward type that makes his own luck. He is now 8 so would prefer to see him first up here.

5. Bold Star

Bold star makes the trip across from South Australian. I have great respect for trainer Gordon Richards and he has engaged Craig Williams for this. His record isn’t flash first up but he has performed well at group level in the past.

6. Garner

The second of the Gordon Richards runners. He is lightly raced and is yet to miss a placing from his 10 starts. He ran well in a group two in Adelaide prior to spelling – looks to have a terrific chance.

7. Banquo

Banquo was scheduled to run last week at Moonee Valley before the meeting was abandoned. He has jumped out well at Flemington and D. Oliver is booked to ride.

8. Dollar for Dollar

Jamie Kah could win on a broom stick at the moment and is booked to ride Dollar for Dollar first up here. He ran third in the group one Doomben 10,000 beaten .40 last preparation. Right in it.

9. Trope

She has been beaten a long way in her last three runs. Hard to recommend.

10. Rock Prophet

Big step up in grade here but has been good at all three runs this prep. Has a fitness edge over many of his rivals. Don’t dismiss.

11. Maritana

A very lightly raced five year old which won three races in the country in her first preparation. This is surely too hard first up.

12. Humma Humma

She is a another one who was down to run last week at Moonee Valley. In my opinion this looks a better race for her mainly because of the dryer surface. A good winner in an Adelaide group 3 before spelling – she is right in this.

13. Diamond Effort

Diamond Effort was unbeaten in all 4 runs last preparation and her form is hard to knock. She draws a tricky marble here first up but her jockey Ben Melham has been in super form.

14. Lyre

Nice to see Luke Currie back from injury and he finds himself on a good chance in this race. Lyre was group one placed last preparation and certainly has the talent to be winning this race. She will likely be back and on the fence which is not traditionally the best spot to be at Caulfield late in the day. She will need to be right on her game to over come this.

15. Prophet’s Thumb

This mare is a get back runner who has a booming finish on her day. If she gets the right race shape look for her flashing late.
