Tab Tails Stakes – 2022

Track: Good  Weather: Fine

A race over 1640 headed by Private Eye who sees a drastic drop in grade but has to deal with the carpark. Waller knows how to win the big races and gets his chance with Yonkers while Kukeracha was excellent on return. Some mixed-form lines in this and the race shapes up to be a cracking one.

1. Private Eye (19)

Any luck from the draw and it does just win this race based on form and dropping back from a group 1 with legitimate issues. Barrier 19 is awfully tricky at Doomben but off class, should be too good. Very likeable with even luck.

2. Yonkers (10)

Barrier 10 is a little tricky but Yonkers is a very classy runner and knows where the line is. Wouldn’t surprise at all and Waller is a master at placing them.

3. Dashing Willoughby (12)

Can’t have.

4. Kukeracha (1)

Classy and was a nice return. This trip suits, barrier 1 not so much. Needs luck in running but if the gaps open on the rails it can win.

5. Profit (16)

Found the weight too much last run so getting back to 55 looks ideal. Will need luck from barrier 16 but has a good turn of foot and can if the breaks go its way.

6. Quantum Mechanic (4)

Across from Victoria and given a very good draw. Byrne is an interesting booking, has likeable form, and does fly 4th up.

7. Hail Manhattan (6)

Has been around the mark around this trip and does enjoy the track and trip. Barrier 6 will ensure a nice run in transit and Thompson takes the steer. In the mix.

8. London Banker (13)

Is a 3-time winner from 4 goes here and looks nicely placed. Barrier 13 might be slightly awkward but has class and does look over the odds at the moment.

9. Pennino (18)

Tricky to have based off current runs.

10. Silkandarabad (11)

12 months ago would be a huge chance but has been a little disappointing of late. Best efforts go very close but needs to find that.

11. Djukon (9)

Needs luck from barrier 16 but has likeable form and should be around the mark.

12. Seat Of Power (14)

Enjoys racing here and despite needing luck from barrier 14, does get the talented Lloyd to steer.

13. Sambro (2)

A little bit off the boil of late and 3 career wins from 43 starts has to be a concern. That being said, the form is strong but it certainly isn’t the punters pal. Can win but a little hard to trust.

14. Smart Meteor (7)

Has been around the mark its past few starts. Tends to settle off the speed so will require some luck but can show up in this at odds.

15. Dealmaker (15)

Can’t have.

16. Derulo (8)

Won well first-up and was just fair last start. 5 goes at Doomben for just the one placing is a concern in this company. Wouldn’t completely surprise but could not have it in my numbers.

17. Get The Idea (17)

No jockey engaged, has been around the mark and does run well over this trip but will need plenty of luck from the barrier.

18. Zoffany’s Lad (3)

Can’t have.

19. Ocean’s Thirteen (5)

Brings in some handy form lines to this and can get a good run in transit. No jockey engaged yet is the query but looks well placed.
