Pakenham Cup 2022 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Good

A very open field. Milford was well tried and won nicely last start. It can go on with things here. Fifth Position is the class of the field and is 1/1 with Moor aboard. Kissinger has hit its straps and is having an excellent prep. Oliver sticks and he can win again while Wyclif looks a huge chance coming off an excellent run behind the promising Flash Feeling. Not expecting much tempo in this with quite a few of these settling off the speed. Market moves will be interesting late given the size and openness off the field.

Pakenham Cup 2022 Runner by Runner

1. Sound (10)

Sound is a bit tricky to catch from a punting perspective and does need to notch up another win. This race is suitable but given no favours from barrier 10. Its worth respecting any market moves for it.

2. Milford (7)

Milford was well tried last start and landed the prize. It can go on with things here and Blake Shinn is in outstanding form. He sticks and he is 1/1 aboard.

3. Future Score (1)

Barrier 1 is some query for Future Score and where it gets to in the run but this race is within reach. Kersley knows the horse well and it has won at Pakenham in the past. Keep safe.

4. Good Idea (2)

Prefer in Good Idea flies over this trip and should enjoy getting back out to a suitable distance. Spain sticks and it has already run a very credible 2nd over this track and trip in this race last year. This race is well and truly within reach.

5. Fifth Position (4)

Fifth Position maps nicely and is 1/1 with Moor aboard. This race is suitable and Fifth Position finds the placings more often than not. Top 4 chance.

6. Kissinger (8)

I’ve always had a good opinion of Kissinger but it battled a few issues earlier this year. It is good to see it hit its straps and is racing better than ever. Oliver rode excellent last start and he sticks. Big chance.

7. Wyclif (3)

Wyclif drops a stack of weight here after an excellent effort last start. Williams takes the steer for the first time and from barrier 3 it should get its chance. Wyclif goes on top here with the drop of 8kgs in a race that is very much within reach.

8. Nobel Heights (11)

Not much between Nobel Heights and Kissinger, the former flies on good tracks and has made the quinella 7 times from 9 goes onto of the ground. The conditions should suit here and it looks a suitable race on paper despite the wide draw.

9. Vegas Knight (9)

Vegas Knight is racing well and has an ideal running pattern. It will land on the speed in a race that is lacking much pace so it should get its chance in this race.

10. Swelter Magic (5)

Not a hopeless chance here Swelter Magic after running well in a race slightly harder than this. Keep safe and respect any market moves.

11. The Awesome Son (6)

The Awesome Son should get a nice run in transit from the draw. It is 1/1 on this track so this race is within reach.
