Track: Good Weather: Fine

Imperatriz can continue on its winning ways here from the good draw. Has to carry weight but you’d be braver than me taking on a horse who is 18 wins from 24 starts. $2.40 is over the odds. Magic Time has good ability and won well at the end of last prep. Buenos Noches wasn’t given much hope first up but seemed just fair while Espiona is hit and miss but its best can run into the placings.

1. Imperatriz (3)

Best horse in the country at the moment and maps for a dream run from barrier 3. Simply looks the winner, regardless of weight.

2. Bella Nipotina (4)

Honest as the day is long and can find the placings in this field from the good draw.

3. Buenos Noches (9)

I’m a fan of this guy but he is unders here. Not given much hope last run but then again wasn’t exactly – can beat Imperatriz – material. A recent trial was average and happy to take him on.

4. Espiona (8) – scratched

5. Ruthless Dame (2)

Can’t have.

6. Magic Time (12)

Put together some very good efforts last prep and has stacks of ability. Can’t tip him against the favourite but he should be thereabouts and loves this track and trip.

7. The Astrologist (14)

Ran 2nd in this race in 2022. Can’t have.

8. Benedetta (11)

Classy runner that didn’t have a lot of luck fresh and flies second up. Can win.

9. It’sourtime (1)

Can’t have.

10. Master Fay (10)

Prefer others.

11. Rey Magnerio (7) – scratched

12. Sghirripa (6)

Has the talent but this looks a step too far this early on. Place chance at best.

13. Skew Wiff (5)

Can’t have.

14. Cylinder (13)

Classy runner when on song but would want to see a market push.
