Magic Millions 2YO Classic – 2023

Track: Good Weather: Good

A mouthwatering clash between both Snowden runners Sovereign Fund and Empire Of Japan who both lead the market. The former was very impressive last start while Empire Of Japan has been kept on ice for this after a nice run behind the handy Fire Lane when a short favourite. Skirt The Law has done nothing wrong to date and has the map advantage over the favourites while Platinum Jubilee will be up on the speed giving a sight, it’s Gimrack Stakes win is good enough to give this a shake. Summer Loving also creates interest after hitting the line hard in both starts to date and the stable must always be respected in these race. There is a stack of speed in this race so the tempo should be strong.

1. Mishani Renegade (1)

This race is too tough.

2. Sovereign Fund (17)

Hard to beat after a very likeable win last start. Jamie Kah sticking is a good sign but the barrier is a shocker. Will need luck but can absolutely win.

3. Sunsource (2)

Going along well and hit the line hard last start. Maps well from barrier 2 and can give this race a shake.

4. Empire Of Japan (11)

Hard to knock Empire of Japan who hit the line super last start. James McDonald going with the horse alone is a massive push for its chances. Drawn okay but will need some luck. Very hard to beat.

5. Royal Entrance (9)

Going super and should be landing on the speed with Tim Clark in the saddle. Enormous win last start and can measure right up to these. Hard to beat.

6. Godfather (20)

Barrier 20 a huge concern here for Godfather. It has plenty of ability and was once very form in early markets but the wide draw makes it tough.

7. Chrysaor (13)

Can’t have.

8. Infatuation (8)

Likeable win last start. Progressive with good upside but looks short enough coming off the maiden win.

9. Fire Lane (15)

Fire Lane was very good last start powering home. It has an excellent turn of foot but will need a bit to go right from barrier 15. Top 4 chance.

10. Platinum Jubilee (7)

Won the Gimrack on debut and that kind of effort would just about take this out. Solid run last start and maps better than a lot of its rivals. Hard to beat.

11. Croatian Belle (12)

Won well twice in VIC and has been brought across for this. Harder here but is a smart galloper with good click up speed and that should take it a long way in this.

12. Summer Loving (10)

Has hit the Line hard in both starts and will get the tempo to suit. Like the form around Summer Loving and it looks a huge chance in this field.

13. Skirt The Law (4)

Has done nothing wrong to date and has a nice map advantage over rivals which should carry it a long way in this. Tony Gollan will have it primed for the race, major player.

14. Miss Coota (18)

Exciting prospect. Just did too much work last run but where she lands too from barrier 18 is a huge query. This race is within reach but a bit will need to fall into place for it to be winning.

15. Excel ‘or (21)

Prefer others.

16. Empress Of Wonder (16)

Strong run in the Calway Gal last start and that form should hold up here. Should relish a strong tempo and be running on late. Can win with luck from the draw.

17e. Risky Investment (6)

This is out of reach.

18e. She’s A Rogue (19)

Filling in the numbers.

Prefer others.

20e. Trifling (5)

This looks too tough.

21. Oovii (14)

Can’t have.
