Kensington Stakes 2022 Race Details
Race 7 at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday the 17th December 2022.
The Kensington Stakes is a 1000 metre open handicap race run by the Victoria Racing Club in early January. It is held at Flemington as the feature event of the meeting.

Kensington Stakes 2022 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Overcast
With the early scratchings of Alpha One and Deep Speed eight remain in this years $200,000 Listed Kensington Stakes Field. Rose Quartz is a firm favourite in betting after her big flashing light run in the Doveton Stakes at Caulfield. Esta La Rocca is on the next line of betting.
Kensington Stakes 2022 Runner by Runner
1. Halvorsen
Griffiths & de Kock runner who loves the Flemington straight. He was second in the Group 1 Goodwood and William Reid last campaign and home hard this track and trip first up. Strong each way hope.
2. Esta La Roca
Speedster who has had a month between runs after finishing second in an open handicap at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day. In the mix.
3. Parsifal
Was second in this race last year. Has since travelled to Dubai where he was competitive at Group 2 level. Like the draw and jockey. Won’t shock if he is in the finish here first up.
4. Yulong Command
Speedy customer who finished third this track and distance in the Century Stakes on Oaks Day. Kah takes over.
5. Ashford Street
Was luckless last start in Adelaide – held up and then forced back to the inside which was the inferior going. Comes back to 1000m and drops in weight. Can improve.
6. Rose Quartz
Has an excellent straight record and was home hard in the Doveton Stakes at Caulfield last start after getting way too far back in the run. Expect her to settle much closer in the run here. Dry tracks look the key to her!
7. Alpha One – SCRATCHED
8. Deep Speed – SCRATCHED
9. Colsridge
Lightly raced six year old who has won two recent Bendigo jump outs ahead of his first up run. First four chance.
10. Neverstandingstill
Has been up for a while and is not well in under these conditions. Prefer others.
