2023 Burgess Queen Stakes Runner by Runner

1. Super Smink (1)

Won the Listed Belgravia Stakes over 1200m at Ascot on 28th October when resuming from a spell. She was brilliant as a 2YO winning 3 of her 5 starts including the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate and the Group 3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes. Looks to have come back as good as ever, and should win this.

2. More Special (9)

One of 2 runners sired by Safeguard (the other is Guarding Heaven). Resumed from a 13 week break for 1.2 lengths 4th in a Graduation Handicap (1MW) over 1200m at Ascot on 21st October, Not sure if she is ready for 1400m though.

He resumed for 3rd in the Crawford Stakes with good closing splits. Seven of his 10 wins have been at Ascot. In the mix.

5. Generosity (7)

Has a win and 2 places from her 4 starts. Was luckless when 5th over 1200m  Ascot last start. Not the worst.

6. Guarding Heaven (12)

Led all the way for a big win in a 3YO Maiden over 1300m at Northam last starts..This is tougher but she may be on the improve.

7. Ayumi (6)

Finished 5th last start in a Class One Handicap over 1200m at Ascot on 25th October. Has placed over 1400m before. Place chance.

8. Miss Rockjoy (8)

Ran 3rd over 1200m at Ascot last start after winning a maiden at Northam. Others look stronger.

Was a good winner at Bunbury last outing to give her 2 wins from 3 starts. Looks above average and can feature in the finish.

10. Keshi Boom (3)

One of 2 runners trained by Grant & Alana Williams (the other is Janny). She has won both of her starts with a good win over 1200m at Belmont on debut, then returned after 12 weeks for a 0.6 length win over 1000m at Northam. Had dominant closing splits and should run well again.

11. Hoba Meteor (2)

Ran on strongly from the back of the field for 2nd over 1200m at Ascot last start. Won over 1400m the start before. Could surprise.

12. Janny (5)

Playing God filly who won a 3YO Maiden over 1410m at Bunbury last start. This is much harder.
