Track: Good Weather: Good

Plenty to learn in the preview for the Fillies. The market is headed by Aditi from the Exceed and Excel sire. Jamie Kah steers and from barrier 1 the classic go forward Waterhouse-Bott tactics are expected. Its debut was more than solid and should give this race a shake. Elderberry is a market watch for the Freedman stable. No problems with the debut of Exploring who won in open company for the Godolphin camp. Craig Williams sticks which is a good sign. Picky ran 2nd in that race ( the New Year Sprint ) and comes up a big price in this as well despite the wide draw. Hard to get a gauge on the speed with the amount of first starters but it should be solid.

1. Exploring (7)

Did everything right on debut in the New Year Sprint and that looks good form for this. Williams will need a pinch of luck from barrier 7 but if he can sit outside the leader, Exploring is tough enough to kick and take this out. Goes on top at a nice price.

2. Aditi (1)

Ran well in the Darcey Maribyrnong Trial Stakes last year and has jumped out well on both occasions. Jamie Kah can use barrier 1 to her advantage and if Aditi can take control of the race it will be very hard to run down.

3. Furosshi (4)

Can’t have.

4. Picky (13)

Seems a big price despite the wide draw. Solid debut running on behind Exploration and that form should hold up here. The $23.00 is a generous price.

5. Tabata Set (14)

Has improved in recent trials and won both of them. Ethan Brown steers for the stable and they have an excellent jockey and trainer strike rate. Keep safe.

6. Ode To Joy (9)

Reasonable debut in the New Year Sprint running 3rd behind Exploring and Picky. That form looks good enough for this race and Ode To Joy has the ability to take this out but will need some luck from the draw.

7. Celestial Storm (12)

Debut was just fair but a recent trial was an improved showing. Will need some luck from the draw. Respect any market moves.

8. All At Once (10)

Prefer others.

9. De Sonic Boom (3)

Blake Shinn is very much in form and he does the steering on De Sonic Boom from the kind draw. Trials have been solid and has been well respected in early markets. Keep safe.

10. Elderberry (5)

Moved well to win both trials. The kind draw should ensure it gets its chance here and Ben Melham does the steering. If it can bring its trials to Raceday it certainly can give this a shake.

11. Ginger ‘N’ Pick (2)

Hasn’t shown heaps at the trials but gets a nice draw to boot and Linda Meech to do the steering. Place chance.

12. Right To Party (11)

Improved from a trial last year to a most recent trial. Damien Lane is an eye catching booking. Respect the market.

13. Sensical (8)

A filly from the Zoustar / Karuta Queen sire. Peter Moody is in excellent form, respect any moves.

14. Written Bligh (15)

Wide draw could be tricky on debut. Trials were just fair. Respect any moves.

15. Zousuko (6)

Trials have been okay. Jamie Mott rides from the good gate. Best to follow the market.
