Australian Guineas 2024 Race Details
Race 8 at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday the 2nd of March 2024.
The Australian Guineas is a Group 1 race held at Flemington Racecourse and is run over 1600 metres. It is is run under weight for age conditions for horses aged three-years-old. The total prize money is $1,000,000 this year.

Australian Guineas 2024 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Cracking race. Riff Rocket and King Colorado clash again. The former was brilliant fresh and looks suited up in trip while the latter had its chance but was gallant in defeat. Shouldn’t be a lot between them. Veight wasn’t far off Mr Brightside recently which reads super for this. Southport Tycoon wasn’t far off Veight last start while Zipaway has form around Zaaki last prep and can’t be ruled out.
Australian Guineas 2024 Runner by Runner
1. Riff Rocket (9)
Hard to hold out and was brilliant fresh. Suited by the rise in trip and looks hard to beat.
2. Veight (6)
Leant his way but this race is wide open. Form around Mr Brightside reads well and has the map advantage over the dangers. This race is suitable.
3. King Colorado (12)
Tough draw but looks suitably placed in this company and was excellent last run. Has to find a bit to be beating the favourite but not out of this.
4. Apuila (15)
Needs further.
5. Zipaway (10)
Going under the radar and should be much shorter. Has the ability and despite the awkward map does look well placed in this company. Can give this a real shake.
6. Cap Ferrat (2)
Leaning to others.
7. The Pendragon (14)
Can’t have.
8. Run Harry Run (16)
Prefer others.
9. Sunsets (13)
Did beat Riff Rocket last prep but that was over 2000. Likely to need further but also looming around big odds and wouldn’t totally shock.
10. Verdad (3)
Can’t have.
11. Snow Patrol (7)
Off the map fresh and bounced back to form. Can take this out and looks to have come back super.
12. Southport Tycoon (4)
Sound behind Veight and gets a good draw and map. This race looks well within reach.
13. Otago (5)
Can’t have.
14. Hey Fat Cat (1)
Prefer others.
15. Quintessa (8)
Can’t have.
16. Vieste (17)
This looks too tough.
