The race was first held in 1990 over 1000m at Morphettville when it was won by Sleep Time Girl trained by David Hayes and ridden by Michael Carson. From 1996 to 2001 it was held over 900m at Victoria Park, It wasn’t held in 2002 then returned to 1000m at Morphettville in 2003. In 2006 the distance was increased to 1100m. In 2014 it was held over 1000m at Morphettville Parks then from 2015 the distance has been the current 1050m. In 2024 it was 1000m at Morphettville Parks again.
