Perfect Jewel (Flemington Race 8 No. 6)
This Redoubte’s Choice mare from Perth has won eight of her 25 starts. She won the Group 3 WW Cockram Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield after a nine week let-up then was 3.25 lengths 8th in the G1 Makybe Diva Stakes before a close 2nd in the G2 Stocks Stakes last start. Jockey William Pike has a strike rate of 35% for this trainer and she looks hard to beat.

Surprise Baby (Flemington Race 7 No. 3):
This six-year-old Shocking gelding ran 5th in the Melbourne Cup last year, less than a length behind the winner. He resumed for 0.4 length 2nd in the Group 2 John F. Feehan Stakes over 1600m on 5 September where he ran on strongly out wide and is already looking for further. He is unbeaten in two second-up starts and won the Bart Cummings at this race meeting last year. He looks a top each-way bet.

This Tavistock gelding is the early favourite in the Listed UCI Stakes over 1800m. He has only had one start where he ran on strongly to go clear in the last few strides to win by 1.25 lengths in a maiden plate over 1500m at Geelong on 6 September. There are group winners in this race and he does not represent value.
