PLEASE NOTE: THIS MEETING HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO WEDNESDAY 25TH MAY DUE TO WEATHER AND THE STATE OF THE TRACK.

Our Doomben Horse Racing Tips for the 21st of May.

The feature races of the day are the Bill Carter Stakes (race 3), Chief De Beers (race 4), Pam O’neill Stakes (race 5), BRC Sprint (race 6), Doomben Cup (race 7) and The Roses (race 8).

The Catch (Doomben Race 1 No. 9)
In quite an open card, The Catch sticks out as a good bet. It has returned in extremely good order, handles all conditions, maps well and brings in winning form which some of its rivals do not have. The Catch looks a nice way to kick off the day.

Chilko Lake (Doomben Race 8 No. 10)
Chilko Lake needs to take another step in order to win this race but I believe it can and thus far has only been on an upward spiral. Maps beautifully in barrier 2 and Sydney form constantly tends to hold up in QL. Chilko Lake sees a sharp rise in grade and trip but that doesn’t look to be a problem judging by the way it has been racing. It can take this out at $20.00

Zaaki (Doomben Race 7 No. 1)
He’s one of my favourites and one of the best in the land but the $1.35 on offer for Zaaki seems far too short given the conditions. The line looked to have come just at the right time last run so the step up to 2000 has me weary and there was less than a length between Zaaki & Polly Grey. The stable admitted they much prefer him on top of the ground and he looks risky at the odds on offer.

As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.
