The Sheila Gwynne Classic is a 1400 metre set weights plus penalties race for fillies and mares run by the West Australian Turf Club in April. It is held at Ascot as the feature race of the meeting.

Prior to 2016 the race was known as the Matchmaker Classic. The race was designed to pair some of WA’s best fillies and mares over the 1400m distance with some of the state’s best stallions. Free services are genourously offered by studs and the first four across the line nominate a stallion to provide a free service. The aim is to consolidate and strengthen the bloodlines of the Western Australian thoroughbred breeding industry.

Prior to 2006 it was held in January.
