W J Adams Stakes – 2022

Track: Good Weather: Chance of a shower

Five are set to go around in the $160,000 Listed W J Adams Stakes.  Sartorial Splendour is the only runner to have had a start since November.  The Maher & Eustace filly Enthaar dominates the early betting.  She was dominant winning the Doveton Stakes here at her last start and has jumped out very well ahead of this first up assignment.

The second favourite is Esta La Roca.  She’s a 1000m specialist who likes to race on speed in her races.  Streetcar Stranger was second behind Enthaar at his last start and meets her better at the weights here, while Mossman Gorge is a backmarker who could be suited by a strong tempo.

1. Sartorial Splendor

Lead and weakened here last start in a fast run Christmas Stakes.  Safely held in the Kensington Stakes at start prior.  Like the booking of Damian Lane but hard to recommend off recent efforts.

2. Streetcar Stranger

South Australian trained gelding.  Had the right run but chased Enthaar to within a length here last time.  Meets her 2kg better off at the weights in this and gets Jamie Kah.  Look for him late.

3. Enthaar

Lightly raced daughter of Written Tycoon.  Was back to somewhere close to her best when sitting three wide on a hot speed here at the end of November and breaking clear to win by a length.  Has been given a short break since and went like a rocket in a recent Cranbourne jump out.  The one to beat here.

4. Mossman Gorge

Resumes.  Handy record – seven wins and ten placings from 35 starts but doubt he’s good enough to match it with these first up.

5. Esta La Roca

Speedy customer who resumes here.  She has won two of three first up and will make her own luck up on speed.
