W J Adams Stakes Race History

The race dates back to at least 1982 when it was held as the Listed VATC Herald Sprint over 1200m and was won by a horse named Allez Bijou. In 1991 the name was changed to the VATC Autumn Sprint, and in 2000 it became the W J Adams Stakes. It was not held in 2011 and from 2012 it has been held over the current 1000m distance.
