Vamos Stakes 2024 Runner by Runner

1. Megamea (11)

Finished 0.9 length 3rd to Yellow Sam in the Group 3 Mystic Journey Stakes over 1200m at Hobart on 9th February. One of the chances.

2. Jaja Chaboogie (12)

Won this race last year. Finished well back in the field behind Yellow Sam last start after drawing wide and racing wide throughout. She’s drawn the outside barrier here which won’t help her chances. Not the worst.

3. Jenny Jerome (3)

Was 3rd over 1400m at Caulfield last start. Place chance.

4. Yellow Sam (7)

Won the Mystic Journey after winning over 1400m at Geelong the start before. She has never missed the trifecta with 5 wins and 6 places from 11 starts. Top pick.

5. Jaguar Stone (1)

Ran 1.5 lengths 5th in the Mystic Journey and has drawn perfectly here. Didn’t get a lot of room last start and placed at her 3 starts before that. Chance.

6. Sirene Stryker (9)

Ran 2nd in this race last year. Resumed from a 16 week break to finish 4th behind Yellow Sam and should take improvement from that run. One of the chances.

7. Romary (6)

Her best distance is over a mile, but she has excellent form at this track with 7 wins from 13 starts here. Has had an 8 week let-up and trialled nicely. Capable of getting into the money.

8. Alvarinho (5)

Won 2 consecutive races at Hobart before 2nd in the Mystic Journey where she was game in defeat from the outside barrier at her first black-type race. One of the main chances.

9. Emily (8)

Never got close in the Mystic Journey. Looking to others.

10. Cabaca (2)

Finished 7th in the Mystic journey. Unlikely.

11. Stone Cold Stunner (4)

Has won 6 of her last 7 starts in easier company and has won 3 from 3 at this track and distance combination. Don’t dismiss.

12. Justifiable Award (10)

Resumed from a spell to win two in a row at Mornington then was 2nd over 1600m at Moonee Valley last start. Not out of it.
