Tristarc Stakes – 2021

Track: Slow-Heavy Weather: Showers

Nine mares have accepted for the $300,000 Group 2 Tristarc Stakes and Symon Wilde trains two of them.  None of these met at their last start so there are many different form lines to consider.  The early favourite in the betting is the Group 1 winning mare Colette.  She drops back in trip to 1400m after finish fifth in the Makybe Diva Stakes over the mile last time out.  She is a terrific wet tracker – so the more rain the better for her!  Nimalee comes down from Sydney for this third up assignment.  She looks well placed after a close second in the Golden Pendent at her last start.

Chaillot came from no where to win at Sandown first up and is ideally drawn in barrier nine given her get back and run on style.  Sirileo Miss won the Ladies Day Vase here on Wednesday.  Pride Of Jenni ran a great race in the Rose of Kingston at $80-1.  Kahma Lass backs up after winning here last week, while Steinem strips fitter second up.  The remaining runners are longer than $20-1.

1. Kahma Lass

Kiwi mare on the quick back up after a high rating win here last week.  She won the Group 1 1000 Guineas over 1600m in New Zealand.  Climbs in weight for this but can run well again.

2. Colette

Group 1 winning mare trained by James Cummings.  She ran well in the Memsie Stakes first up, then was good again when fifth in the Makybe Diva Stakes last start.  Looks likely to get the wet track she has been crying out for here.  Rates highly.

3. Nimalee

Matthew Smith & Damian Oliver combine with Nimalee.  She won the Group 2 Emancipation in the Autumn and was close up in The Coast.  Gets here third up after finishing second in the Golden Pendant at Rosehill last start.  Strong chance.

4. Chaillot

Five year old mare who has won five of nine.  She produced an outstanding turn of foot to win at Sandown first up up over 1300m and wasn’t beaten far in the Group 1 Empire Rose last October.  Some queries on her second up record but if she can reproduce what she did first up then she is a key player here.

5. Brazen Song

Lead all the way to win a benchmark 64 at Cranbourne last start.  She needs to improve to be a factor here.

6. Aidensfield

Blinkers go back on for this daughter of Dissident.  She has been racing well with out winning in recent times.  Is a rough place hope up in class.

7. Sirileo Miss

Unbeaten in three runs this prep.  Latest, she sat outside a genuine tempo and held onto to win the Ladies Day Vase here on Wednesday.  Shouldn’t have any issues with a wet surface.  Expect her to go well if they do elect to run her on the quick back up.

8. Pride Of Jenni

Lead them up in a fast run Rose Of Kingston last start and nearly held onto win at a huge price.  She has placed all four goes on rain affected tracks and should find a spot up on speed again here.  Each way chance.

9. Ruby Street

Won a benchmark 70 at Flemington two starts ago, then ran sixth in the Gilgai.  Needs to improve to be a factor here.

10. Steinem

Lightly raced daughter of Frankel trained on the track.  She ran ninth after starting favourite in the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville in May.  Look for her running on at the end.
