Following the early scratching of Turn On The Charm, 11 runners remain for the Magic Millions Thomas Lyons Stakes. They are all geldings with two 4YOs, three 5YOs, three 6YOs, two 7YOs and a 9YO. Seven runners had their last start in an Open Weight For Age over 1200m at Launceston on 26th January (won by Bello Beau) while the rest came via different races. The early favourite is Geegees Gemstone who won 4 races in a row before being disappointed for a run near the 100m and finishing 1.7 lengths 6th behind Bello Beau last start. Second favourite is Indispensable who chased well to just miss last start at Launceston in the same race. Third favourite is First Accused who was 0.9 lengths 5th in the same race. Turk Warrior ran 3rd in the race, while Bello Beau held on for the win. All other runners are currently $10 or longer.

Finished 0.6 length 4th last start in an Open Weight For Age over 1200m at Launceston on 26th January won by Bello Beau. Has won 11 of his 22 starts and has 5 wins and 3 places from 9 starts at this track. Always a danger.

2. Bello Beau (9)

Clung on for a narrow win at Launceston last start beating many of his rivals here. Has won 8 of his 15 starts and goes well at Hobart. Should run well again.

3. First Accused (11)

Descended late out wide for 0.9 lenghs 5th behind Bello Beau. Loves this track and the step up to 1400m looks ideal. Top chance.

4. Indispensable (1)

Chased well to just miss behind Bello Beau after being held up down the straight. Ideally drawn and is one of the main chances.

5. Shot Of Irish (12)

Having his first run for new trainer John Keys. Drawn the outside barrier and first-up after 22 weeks. Prefer to see.

6. Alpine Wolf (5)

Coming back in distance after 9.3 lengths 13th over 1880m at Devonport on 10 January. Prefer others.

Has a win and a place from his last 2 starts. Not the worst.

9. Hellova Night (2)

Hasn’t been racing well enough recently. Wait for a form reversal.

10. King Island (10)

Won 4 in a row earlier this preparation but looks ready for a spell now.

11. Geegees Gemstone (7)

Won 4 races in a row before being disappointed for a run near the 100m and finishing 1.7 lengths 6th behind Bello Beau last start. Forgive last run. Can be in the finish again.

12. Nicco The Greek (3)

Won at this track and distance 2 starts back then was a close 2nd at Launceston last start. Goes well here. Place chance.
