2020 Farnley Stakes Race Details
Race 4 at Belmont on Saturday 12 September 2020.
The Farnley Stakes is a 1400 metre quality handicap race run by the Western Australian Turf Club at Belmont. It is held during September and is the feature event of the program.

Farnley Stakes 2020 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
There are only six runners for the $100,000 Farnley Stakes and none of them raced against each other at their last outing. The early favourite is Massimo who has four wins and five places from 10 starts at this track. Second favourite is Pym’s Royale who powered home for 2nd in the Belmont Newmarket last outing. Third favourite is Snowchino who is on a seven day back-up and has won four times at Belmont before
Great Shot is the topweight and ran last of nine when resuming from a long break in the Idyllic Prince Stakes on 29 August. Harry Thomas resumes from a spell of 20 weeks, placed at Belmont when last fresh and won one of five first-up. Yeah Darby has won three times at the track before but resumed for 3.5 lengths 7th over 1000m here on 22 August.
2020 Farnley Stakes Runner by Runner
1. Great Shot
The topweight finished last campaign with 0.28 length, 0.2 length 3rd in the Group 3 Northerly Stakes over 1400m at Ascot on 19 October, then ran last of nine when resuming from a 45 week break in the Listed Idyllic Prince Stakes on 29 August. He might need another run or two to show his best.
2. Massimo
He goes well here with four wins and five places from 10 starts at this track. He won by 1.11 lengths over 1400m at Belmont on 8 August, then won by 1.11 lengths again over 1650m at Belmont on 22 August. Looks the one to beat again.
3. Harry Thomas
He resumes from a spell of 20 weeks. He placed at Belmont when last fresh and won one of five first-up.
4. Pym’s Royale
He has won 10 of his 28 starts and powered home for 2nd in the Belmont Newmarket last outing. Should fight out the finish.
5. Snowchino
She is the only mare in the race and is on a seven day back-up, Although she has won four times at Belmont before her form has not been good this preparation, but she could place.
6. Yeah Dardy
He has won three times at the track before but resumed for 3.5 lengths 7th over 1000m here on 22 August and needs to improve.
