Eclipse Stakes – 2022

Track: Soft Weather: Good

Plenty of speed engaged in this race. Grandslam is leading the market and brings in some good form. It will be hard to beat from the good draw. Keats continues to race well for the new stable while French Emperor hasn’t put a foot wrong this prep. Montign was an enormous eye catcher on resumption flashing from a hopeless position to win and goes on top. Expecting a strong tempo.

1. Grandslam (3)

Grandslam returned well and should be going close in this. Williams jumps aboard for the first time, it maps to perfection, flies 2nd up and looks well placed against these. Hard to beat.

3. So Si Bon (2)

Can’t have So Si Bon. It is far too hard to catch and unreliable from a punters perspective. I would like to see it improve sharply before considering.

4. Sirileo Miss (12)

Sirileo Miss loves racing here and should give this a shake. It has had a consistent prep and has the best form at the track out of this bunch. It’ll be mighty hard to beat in this company and deserves to be well in the market.

5. Holbien (11)

Can’t have.

6. Keats (14)

Keats has been absolutely airborne since joining the new stable. It has an appealing running pattern and can prove hard to hold out in this again. Its record on this track is poor but it is just a better horse these days. Can win.

7. Montign (10)

I was taken by the last start win of Montign. It absolutely flew home from what looked a hopeless position. Strips fitter for the run, I concede it did save ground and sees a massive rise in class but gee the win was impressive. It can absolutely win this at odds.

8. Adelaide Ace (6)

Weary of Adelaide Ace at the large odds. It brings in the right form and has won over this track and trip. Keep safe.

9. French Emperor (9)

Impossible to knock a horse going for 4 straight wins and French Emperor just keeps answering all the challenges that has been thrown at it. It will need some luck from the draw but hard to find any others reasons as to why it can’t just win again.

10. Cormorant (5)

This looks too tough.

11. El Gladiador (7)

Can’t have.

12. Flash Feeling  (1)

Flash Feeling appreciated the drop in grade last start with a good win. It has to be some query with its running pattern from barrier 1 but if the seas part at the right time it can take this out.

13. Princess Rhaenys (13)

Going well and is a consistent galloper. This race isn’t much harder than what it contested last start when chasing a handy one called Roots. Major player in this field and goes in everything.
