Track: Good Weather: Cloudy

Intriguing race with the favourite Without A Fight giving a good sight in The Melbourne Cup and sees a very large drop in grade. The same can be said about Vow And Declare who will get its chance in this field. Luncies creates good interest after running a solid 2nd behind the boom horse Soulcombe while Persan has plenty of class and can give this race a shake. You can also expect good improvement out of Desert Icon back onto good footing.

1. Vow And Declare (3)

Liked the effort of Vow And Declare in the Melbourne Cup. It ran a very credible race and looks suited here on the dry ground. My knock with it is the record at Caulfield, 7 attemps for just the one placing. This race is within reach and it does bring in some super form.

2. Dark Dream (2)

Going along okay but is overdue for a win. It shall get a nice run in transit from barrier 2 and does look nicely weighted here.

3. Sound (10)

Sound can be tricky to catch but is never far away and will run out the 2400. Mott will need to be good early from the draw but this race is within reach.

4. Persan (6)

Persan certainly brings good class to this field. It is having a good prep without winning and should get its chance in this field. Harry Coffey jumps aboard for the first time and it rates as one of the hardest to beat.

5. Chapada (8)

Can’t have.

6. Kukeracha (7)

Loved the last start run of Kukeracha and that form should hold up in this race. It easily beat 3rd and chased a smart horse in King Frankel. This race is well within its grasp.

7. Great House (9)

Great House is mixing its form this prep so the market is the best guide to its chances.

8. Desert Icon (5)

Desert Icon is a strong chance in this race. It flies on the track, loves good footing and maps kindly. Expect vast improvement from last start getting back on top of the ground and it is the best roughie in this field.

9. Luncies (4)

Hard to pot the effort of Luncies last start chasing Soulcombe, a horse that is destined for massive things. I trust the form, it maps beautifully from the draw and has won over this trip. On top.

10. Without A Fight (1)

Without A Fight was just fair in The Melbourne Cup but it does look better suited to this field. Has now seen OZ shores, strips fitter 2nd up and the starting price profile must be respected. Hard to beat.
