Recognition Stakes 2022 Preview
Track: Soft Weather: Good
Holyfield leads the market here after a strong last start win. It finds a suitable race and can go right on with things. Rubamos has been a model of consistency and can show up in this field while Kinloch was horribly unlucky last run and can get all the favours from the draw if it is put to use. Hard to go past Holyfield after breaking then track record last run but Kinloch does present nice value after a luckless run in transit last time out.
Recognition Stakes 2022 Runner by Runner
1. Emerald Kingdom (10)
Only needs a clear passage from barrier 10 to go close. First look at the track but class of the field and can not be dismissed, particularly on a good track.
2. Holyfield (7)
Broke the track record last run with an outstanding performance. Whether Holyfield can run up to that effort again is a query but it would only have to hold its form to be going close. Short enough here from the draw and in a race full of depth but it will be hard to beat again.
3. London Banker (2)
Prefer with a few runs under the belt. Can’t have.
4. Blondeau (3)
Blonde should be able to settle more handy from the draw today and get the right passage. It has won over this trip and has a solid second up record.
5. Vinco (8)
No luck first up for Vinco. It should improve here but does run into a strong bunch. Keep an eye on the market.
6. Last Chance (6)
Good finale last run and brings in the right form into this race after chasing Holyfield. Du Plessis knows the horse well and it has never missed the quinella 4th up. Excellent value.
7. Rubamos (5)
Hard to knock the prep of Rubamos. When it gets clean air and the right amount of tempo it is a very hard horse to beat. Collett has options from the nice draw, it has already won on this track and can take this race out. Hard to beat.
8. Wonderful Riri (4)
Wonderful Riri is a consistent galloper and loves this trip. It should run a bold race from the nice draw and has won a few times fresh. This is within reach.
9. Kinloch (1)
Absolute horror watch for us a few weeks back and one of the bigger certainties beaten I have seen for a long time. Kinloch simply found trouble after trouble in the straight and should have won with ease. It gets its chance to atone here and should have no excuses from barrier 1.
10. Samoot (9) – SCRATCHED
