Carrington Stakes 2024 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Tamerlane has a tricky draw to contend with but has class. Maximal resumes from a break but likely will want further. Still has claims. Zou Tiger can give a sight from barrier 6 and has a light weight which puts him right in the mix. Felix Majestic will get all the favours from barrier 1 and looks a chance in this field.

No favours from barrier 15 but racing well and has the class to give this a shake. Distance suits and looks a chance in this field.

2. Ucalledit (10)

Hard draw but Gibbons steers and this race suits. Can be ripping home late and looks hard to hold out against this bunch.

3. Bold Mac (11)

Keep an eye on the market. Proven fresh and looks a good hope here.

4. Maximal (9)

Classy runner but should be suited over further. Good enough to still be running on late and has the class to take this out. 2/3 over this trip so can still give this a shake while finding further later on in the prep.

5. Oscar Zulu (4)

Prefer others.

6. Waihaha Falls (8)

Good win last start but very hard horse to catch. Goes in the mix but take on trust.

7. Rubamos (12)

Good win last start but convinced Zou Tiger will have the measure of it this time around with the added fitness.

8. Zou Tiger (6)

Pipped by Rubamos last run but was gallant in defeat. Strips fitter and looks very hard to beat with the light weight launching from barrier 6.

Can’t have.

Racing well and maps for a gun run. Will need luck getting off the rails but does map to do no work and flies over this trip. Collett is 3/7 aboard.
