Ballarat Cup 2022 Preview

Track: Soft Weather: Fine

It’s a wide open market for the Ballarat Cup this year. Atishu creates interest off a dominant win last start and can go on with things here. Oliver should give it every chance from the nice draw. Bankers Choice has been knocking on the door and should prove hard to hold out with some strong form lines while Polly Grey will be banking on a wet track and Grandslam can lead them on a merry dance. The tempo looks to be solid.

Ballarat Cup 2022 Runner by Runner

1. Desert Icon (3)

Desert Icon should improve drastically in this. It struck a heavy track last time out and didn’t handle it but it maps for a kind run and should get every chance from there. Back on top of the ground is ideal, it can win this.

2. Polly Grey (13)

Polly Grey is a through and through wet tracker. With potential rain forecast it will be all depending on what state the track is in by this time of day towards its winning chances. Big hope on a wet deck but can’t have on the dry.

3.Atishu (6)

Atishu was well backed and duly saluted last run thanks to an excellent ride. Drawn well again here, 2/2 over the 2000 and won’t mind a bit of give in the ground. Oliver should be giving it every chance from the draw and it looks very hard to beat.

4. Bankers Choice (1)

Bankers Choice goes in everything here. From barrier 1 it maps for a nice run, handles soft ground and is knocking on the door for a win. Concede it has been a little tricky for punters to catch this prep but this race is suitable. Hard to beat.

5. Grandslam (15)

Grandslam ran well and can handle this trip. It’ll be based on how much early pressure is applied but if they leave Grandslam alone up front it will be in this for a long way. Keep safe.

6. Dark Dream (4)

Going okay but had to trust, monitor any market moves.

7. Foxy Frida (7)

Foxy Frida didn’t run well last start but that was blamed on excuses. If it can bounce back here it has the form to figure, likes soft ground and is well weighted against this lot. The 12 placings from 20 starts is admirable and its worth respecting any market moves for it.

8. Longvillers (14)

Can’t have.

9. Sirileo Miss (10)

Putting together a good C.V and has the right running pattern where it puts its self into the race. No problems if the track falls into the heavy range and should be a major player in this field.

10. Bermadez (8)

Prefer Bermadez fresh and its form has tapered off a little since. Prefer others.

11. Future Score (5)

Future Score usually improves with a run under the belt and gets along with Kersley well. Barrier 5 will ensure it gets every chance.

12. Flash Aah (2)

Liked the ground Flash Aah made late last week and it looks well suited here on the quick back up. If it can sit closer to the speed it’ll give this a red hot shake and is well over the odds at $35.00

13. Lord Vladivostock (9)

Like how Lord Vladivostock is racing and looks set to peak for this. Its best efforts have come on soft ground and Coffey takes over the steer, he knows how to win a cup.

14. Tokorangi (11)

Ticking along nicely but the 3 wins from 17 starts is some concern. If Moor can get into the moving line it can launch late on this late. In the mix.

15. Flash Feeling (12)

Liked the win of Flash Feeling last start and it looks well suited over the 2000. Cartwright knows the horse well having won on it 3 times and this race is within reach.
