Our Hobart Racing Tips for Friday’s meeting. The feature races are the Group 3 Bow Mistress Trophy (race 7), Listed Tasmanian Derby (race 6) and Listed Strutt Stakes (race 4).

Turk Warrior (Hobart Race 5 No. 1)
His price is short but it’s hard to see anything beating him. This three-year-old Outreach gelding trianed by Glenn Stevenson has eight wins from his nine starts. He easily outsprinted the rest of the field for a 0.8 length win over 1400m at Launceston on 15 December, then tasted defeated for the first time when 2 lengths 2nd in the Tasmanian Guineas over 1600m at Hobart on 7 January. Returns to a shorter trip and should simply win.

Krupt Candy (Hobart Race 3 No. 10):
This three-year-old Krupt filly trained by John Lutrell has one win and three places from 11 starts. It took her a while to break her maiden but since then she has performed well in higher grade. She was ridden cold and came from last with a storming run for 1.2 lengths 3rd over 1420m at Launceston on 14 January, then peaked on her run to finish 4.6 lengths 5th in the Thousand Guineas over 1600m at Hobart on 23 January. Back to 1400m she looks a solid each-way hope.

The Nephew (Hobart Race 6 No. 3):
This three-year-old Wordsmith gelding has two wins and a place from six starts and is the early favourite in the Listed Tasmanian Derby over 2200m. He chased steadily for 2.4 lengths 7th over 1700m at Warrnambool on 20 January, then ran on strongly out wide to edge clear in the last 50m for a length win in the Woodend Cup over 1850m at Kyneton on 5 February. On a six day back-up but is hard to line-up against the locals who mainly came through the Listed Launceston Guineas over 2100m. Prepared to risk him.

Key Comments The track is Soft and the rail is +4 metres the entire circuit. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Best Bet Sky Land (Hobart Race 1 No. 10) This 2YO filly takes on the older horses here but has been very game
