Our Ascot Horse Racing Tips for the weekend. Feature races are the Group 3 WA Champion Fillies Stakes (race 7), Group 3 R.J. Peters Stakes (race 5), Group 3 Colonel Reeves Stakes (race 8) and Listed Ascot Gold Cup (race 6).

God Has Chosen (Ascot Race 4 No. 9)
This four-year-old Playing God gelding trained by Lindsey Smith has three wins and two places from five starts. When resuming from a 37 week spell he wound up gamely through the ruck for 0.5 length 2nd over 1100m at Northam on 20 October, then charged clear in the final 150m for a 2.7 length win over 1400m at Ascot on 30 October. Has shown lots of ability and should win again.

Each Way

Written Matter (Ascot Race 1 No. 6):
This four-year-old Written Tycoon gelding trained by Chris & Michael Gangemi has two wins from three starts. He took over at the 150m and won by 2.2 lengths over 1300m at Belmont on 26 May, then didn’t run on and finished 8.9 lengths 8th in the Raconteur Stakes over 1400m at Belmont on 5 June. Resumes here after a 23 week spell and won a recent Belmont trial. Looks a great each-way chance first-up.

Holy Enchantment (Ascot Race 2 No. 2):
This four-year-old Playing God gelding trained by Stephen Miiller has one win and five places from nine starts and is the early favourite in this No Metro Wins Handicap over 1400m. He wound up gamely for 1.2 lengths 2nd over 1500m at Pinjarra Park on 21 February, then chased well for 3 lengths 2nd in the J.C. Roberts Stakes over 1800m at Ascot on 13 March. Hasn’t won first-up before and I’m prepared to risk him here.

Horse Racing Tips: NSW Friday 10th May 2024

Key Comments The rail is in 3 metres from the 1200m mark to the 350m mark and true for the remainder. The best bet resumes off a break and is loaded with upside. Best Bet Nyali Sands (Tamworth Race 7 No. 8) Big fan of this runner resuming. Was keen on it a few times last prep. Didn't let punters down when a short favourite then knocked up in its last run when sitting too close to the speed. Big chance resuming.

Horse Racing Tips: SA Friday 10th May 2024

Key Comments The track is rated good and the rail is true for this 9 race meeting. Best Bet Thebigsosso (Bordertown Race 4 No. 4) Last start at Gawler the rider felt something was amiss and eased him out of the race. Ignore that run and look at his other 3 runs this preparation. They were all very good and he gets a 2kg claim for Caitlin Tootell. Strong hope. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Friday 10th May 2024

Key Comments The rail is out 7 metres and expecting those on speed to prove hard to catch. The best bet is short but looks a nice way to kick off the day. Best Bet Sun Gift (Cranbourne Race 1 No. 7) Looks really hard to stop in the first race. Overdue for a win, brings in a strong ratings profile and only needs even luck from the barrier in this small field to be taking this race out. Check odds on

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Friday 10th May 2024

Key Comments The best bet has been a model of consistency and finds the perfect race to break through. Blake Shinn is the jockey worth following in the meeting and he has been in fine touch this season. Best Bet The Carillo (Geelong Race 2 No. 4) Has been runner up all 4 goes this prep and looks very hard to beat in this moderate affair. Expecting a kind run from barrier 5 and this 3yo Gelding finds the right race to break
