This Deep Field filly has three wins and two places from six starts and looks to have a bright future. She resumed after 22 weeks for 0.75 lengths 2nd over 1050m at Doomben on 7 November, then took over at the 250m and drew away for a 3 length win in the Listed Mode Stakes over 1200m at Doomben on 5 December. Only bad luck will beat her.

Courting Verity (Doomben Race 3 No. 12):
This seven-year-old Reset mare has won her last three starts in a row at country tracks and is proven in soft and heavy going. She chased strongly and reached the lead at the 100m to win by 1.5 lengths over 1200m at Toowoomba on 7 November, then worked clear and sprinted off in the final 100m for a 2.5 length win over 1200m at Rockhampton on 22 November. She is in the best form of her career and is worth an each-way bet.

Phaistos (Doomben Race 4 No. 4):
This five-year-old Helmet gelding trained by James Cummings is the early favourite in this Open Quality Handicap over 2020m. He battled on steadily for 5 lengths, 0.5 length 3rd over 1600m at Sale on a heavy track when favourite on 25 October, then kept chasing for 1.7 lengths 5th in the Group 3 Festival Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill Gardens on 28 November. He handles wet tracks but I’m waiting for a return of form and don’t see value at this price.
