Hawkesbury Guineas Race Information

The Hawkesbury Guineas is a 1400 metre set weights and penalties race for three-year-olds run by the Hawkesbury Race Club in late April or early May. It is held at Hawkesbury as a feature event of their carnival.

The race was first held as a Listed handicap race over 1200 metres in 2000 and was won by a horse called Hire. In 2006 the conditions were changed to set weights with penalties and the distance was increased to 1400 metres.  In 2014 it was upgraded to the current Group 3 status.

In 2015 and 2020 it was held at Rosehill.

Interesting trivia: In 2015 the meeting was abandoned after the first race due to heavy rain that affected parts of the track and the race was held the following week at Rosehill. Race not held in 2005.
