Summer Cup – 2022

Track: Good Weather: Good

Skylab goes on top after running an enormous effort last start without much luck. If it can get off the fence at the right time it will be extremely hard to hold out against these. Diamil seemed to have its chance last start but should enjoy the rise in trip. Lion’s Roar should be ready to peak and is drawn to do no work while Grandslam is the class runner of the field and should be in this for a long way. There should be a solid tempo in this with Fun Fact and Spirit Ridge shooting forward.

1. Lion’s Roar (1)

Nice effort last start from Lion’s Roar and it can go one better in this. Coen will need some luck with its running pattern and barrier 1 but its hard to beat against these with even luck.

2. Sky Lab (3)

Loved the win of Skylab las start and it should be hard to beat here launching from barrier 3. It made up a stack of ground once clear last run and the 2000 metres is very suitable. It should take a stack of beating in this and I like the booking of Zac Lloyd. Great hope.

3. Berdibek (12)

Prefer others.

4. Diamil (8)

Capable on its day but also needs to lift on form. Getting out in trip should help but the wide draw is a query.

5. Grandslam (5)

Brings in a class edge and has contested stronger races than this. Schofield is in good form, the stable are flying and it will get its chance from the draw.

6. Bonny Ezra (2)

Should get a dream run from the draw and is 1/1 over this track and trip. This race is within reach and it should be kept safe against this lot.

7. Spirit Ridge (6)

Should improve second up and has won over this track and trip a few times. Dylan Gibbons and his claim are both big ticks, this race is within reach.

8. Rebel Rama (10)

Tricky to follow for punters but can produce a good run when things fall into place for it. This race is within reach.

9. Splendiferous (13)

Will need some luck with the map given it has good pace drawn on the inside. Can run well in this but I have my queries over the map and set up.

10. Aleas (14)

Aleas is hard to catch and off recent form, while it has been in the mix it is also due for another win. Leaning to others at this stage and Aleas will get no favours from the wide draw.

11. Parry Sound (9)

Prefer others.

12. Fun Fact (7)

Can’t have.

12. Military Mission (4)

Gets along with Rachel King well and Military Mission should give a good kick in this with the light weight. This field is within reach and it will take some beating against this bunch.

14. Global Ausbred (11)

Excellent win at goods odds last start. Has been a big drifter in early markets and there a few queries here with the rise in depth and wide draw. That being said if it can replicate last run then it is right in this.
